New 8 bedroom home for children with severe and challenging behavioural problems.
Designed around a central courtyard, the innovative structure means that carers can view the doors of all bedrooms from their workstation, while strategically placed "fins" in the glazed wall ensure the privacy of one resident from another. Residents come together in the enclosed play area and other communal areas. "Pods" have also been incorporated where they can spend some quiet time. All rooms are anti-ligature.
Through thermal mass, passive heating and cooling is utilised in the bedrooms thus creating a more sustainable environment.
