The scope was to re-define the role of two adjacent public squares and to give the town focus and civic pride. In the "Town Square" steps lead down to an enclosed events space with low walls carved with local market scenes using images and text supplied by local children. Complimentary to this a new traders amenity facility was constructed in the "Market Square". The completed scheme has won a number of awards and this historic market place is once again a focus for tourists, civic events and community activities. The project was developed in close collaboration with Sheils Flynn Landscape Architects.
